We all experience moments when life feels just a little dull like we’ve lost our spark. Sometimes this can happen in the beginning of a new year when we’ve lost track of our goals or been distracted…I know this feeling all too well. There was a time when I lost my creative mojo, and I felt disconnected from my essence. But something incredible happened—I found my way back through creativity and art and I’m excited to share this with you … xox

1. Acknowledge the Dullness

The first step to getting out of a creative rut is recognizing it. Being in denial won’t cut the mustard…I realized I wasn’t feeling like myself. Instead of pushing through with frustration, I acknowledged that something needed to shift….so I did.

2. Reconnect with Your Inner Child

Remember when you were young, and creativity was effortless? For me, this meant picking up a paintbrush again, with no expectations. I let go of the need for perfection and simply played with colour. Doodle, draw just for yourself.

3. Surround Yourself with Inspiration

I started surrounding myself with inspiration – books, music, and art that spoke to my soul. Inspiration is contagious, and it fuels your creative fire. Listen to your intuition when it comes to inspiration. There’s so much joy in loosing yourself in meditation and being you.

4. Try Something New

Breaking free from a dull phase means shaking things up! I began experimenting with different mediums, textures and even painting with my hands. The freedom of expression was liberating.

5. Let Creativity Heal You

Art became my therapy. Every stroke, every splash of colour was a way to express what words couldn’t. If you’re feeling stuck, let creativity be your escape—it could be dancing, cooking, or even rearranging your home.

Getting out of a dull phase is about rediscovering what makes you feel alive.

Creativity saved me, and it can do the same for you!

Here’s to Creativity, Intuition and Joy! … Zahrina
